Victory and Valour, or Defeat and Cowardice?
The Oxford Dictionary defines Victory and Valour as:
Victory: The act of defeating an enemy or opponent in battle, or other competition.
Valour: Great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle.
Victory versus defeat.
Valour versus cowardice.
As I sit on my stationary bike exercising in my garage, I see a sign that my husband has put up for bit of a laugh. It says, ‘Danger. No entry. Authorized persons only.’
As I contemplate and reflect on this sign’s message I ponder and wonder…
I ponder the question, ‘What have you allowed access to your life that should have no access?’
Maybe it’s comparison.
Are you comparing yourself to others? God has formed and created you, there is no one else like you on this earth.
Have you allowed yourself to think or believe yourself as not as good as someone else, or not prettier, or as talented, or have the same gifts as someone else?
Are you trying to be something or someone that God never intended you to be?
Valor would consider repenting, if you needed to, for not liking how He has created you to be.
Victory would believe God’s truth that you are one of a kind, created by Him, and declare Psalm 139 until you believe it.
Maybe, have you believed foundational lies? Such as…I’m not worthy of love; I’m not good enough unless I perform or please people; Nobody loves me; I’m not meant to be here on this earth…
Maybe, have you accepted other people’s words, judgements or opinions of you, as your own, instead of seeking God’s word and what His truth says about you?
Valour would say, ‘I’m sorry Lord’ and repenting for the beliefs or lies you have partnered with.
Victory would declare daily Gods truth and His word over yourself until there is no longer access to these lies or judgements.
Maybe, are you holding onto unforgiveness because of what someone has done to you?
The choice is yours to hold onto bitterness and unforgiveness, or deciding to choose to release forgiveness because you know that God has first forgiven you.
Maybe, have you allowed generational patterns and sins to become part of your identity? You say, ‘My family is steeped in alcoholism, immorality, bitterness, hatred…’ the list goes on. As the generations before you have partnered with these, maybe you have too, or, made excuses because that’s all you’ve ever known and believed. The enemy comes to rob, steal, and destroy (John 10:10).
Valor would say, ‘I’ve taken it to the cross.
Victory would say, ‘No Entry, only Jesus has access from this point.’
Choice: Do you walk in Victory and Valour, or Do you walk in Defeat and Cowardice?
Ponder your Maybes.
The Choice is yours.
