Saved by God

For a time in my life, I saw God as the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff swooping in to save us at the last second. And while God is pretty good at saving us, I’ve learnt that He also wants to prepare us for life’s trials and tribulations in advance.

Early in my teaching career I faced a life or death situation with a student. I was totally shaken. In the days that followed, I thought about all the testimonies I’d heard of God’s deliverance and wondered when He would save me from the deep pain I was facing.

Then I realized, He already had! Through my faith, I was prepared to face this. I was wearing the armor of God. What was I waiting for? Spiritually, I was strong, and I was prepared for all things through Christ who strengthened me. God doesn't want to wait until the last second to help us! He wants to prepare and be organized in spiritual warfare! He wants to strengthen us in faith, so that when disaster comes, we have already got our armor of God on, and will not be shaken.

Every day I am saved by God. Both in joy and disaster. But Virtue and Valour to me means, being dressed in and saved by the armor of God daily, so that when life challenges us, we can stand firm in our faith in God. I believe that daily devotion, scripture and prayer are all things that prepared me and shielded me from the trauma of that day.
By God's grace and mercy, everyone came out of that situation safe. But what I have learnt from that time has changed me entirely! Everyday, as Everywoman, let's not wait for a crisis. But let's put on our armor daily so that we can face each day prepared as daughters and warriors of God!

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13
