A Woman of Faith

Everywoman has always had a special place in my heart.

I have grown up in this church. I started coming along with my mum and my sister when I was 8 years old. I was growing up in a world where the leadership of women was questioned. It was not the norm. The world didn't always value women and the church didn't always want to hear them. But as a kid, all I knew was that God had created me and had a purpose for my life.

When I went to Everywoman I was empowered to live for God in a way that wasn't like the rest of the world. It was faith. It was empowered by being a woman, not in spite of it. I was taught how to be strong, bold, courageous, and have fun with an amazing community of fellow believers. As I grew up, I saw first hand some of the ways of the world. But year after year at this conference we pushed back the narrative that to be a Christian woman meant to be quiet and hidden.

So when I said I wanted to be an engineer, it was encouraged. I was championed when I said I wanted to lead. And 17 years on from that first Everywoman conference I attended, I am grateful for the message that we continue to show the world. To be a woman of faith is to be strong, bold and courageous. To have wisdom. To lead. To show the world what women of God were created to do.
