Overflow #12

Overflow #12

My heart stirs in the deep and overflows out the top with love and gratitude for the many women of God who faithfully journey together in our movement.  This year I am delighted and genuinely moved as I celebrate and reflect on 20 years of being part of the C3 tribe. Coming into Primal as a zealous 18 year old visionary, I am humbled and amazed at God… It is evident to see the abundance of God’s love that flows in and through all the incredible women who continue to build the Kingdom together.

Through this life though, along the road we journey, we get bumps and bruises, sometimes knocked down or the is rug pulled out from under us.  The breakdown of relationships and difficult circumstances can harden our hearts; towards God and others. If we are not guarding our hearts, being watchful, we can spiral into criticism, judgement, un-forgiveness and resentment.  It is unfortunately very easy to slip into a critical mindset; cynicism is a choleric leaders worst trait – and I am guilty of such things – no, really? Yes!

Proverbs 4:20-24* talks of this, in verse 23 it says, so above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are.  Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.

In Luke 6:37-38* Jesus said, “Forsake the habit of criticizing and judging others, and then you will not be criticized and judged in return.
– A habit: is a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up!

Don’t look at others and pronounce them guilty, and you will not experience guilty accusations yourself.  Forgive over and over and you will be forgiven over and over.
– We all need forgiveness and we all need to forgive… be it forgiving God, others, ourselves.

Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more.
– What is a gift?  An offering, a contribution, something given willingly to someone without payment; this is not just a monetary gift or a physical present, a gift can be time, encouragement, support, LOVE… given willingly.
… make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! Your measurement of generosity becomes the measurement of your return.”

Oh ladies, let love overflow from our hearts and lips – grace, forgiveness, gratitude and generously – let the measure of return be abundant!!

In John 13:34-35* Jesus says “So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. 35 For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”

Let us hold fast to the legacy of love and encouragement of one another as women in our movement, let us overflow in the gift of love. As you prepare to come and gather, make room for love, make room in your heart to share together in His presence, guard against those habits…

Overflow in grace, not judgement, cynicism and guilt.
Overflow in humility and gratitude, not condemnation and un-forgiveness.

Overflow in generosity, not withholding.

Overflow in love!

So looking forward to being with you all,
Love and blessings,

 – Alana x (Lead Pastor of C3 Queenstown)
