01 Feb February: Put On Your Sneakers
The hardest thing about running is putting on your sneakers. Once they’re on you are committed and off you go. I think courage is a bit the same. It starts with the first step. You’re not born courageous you become courageous.
When Joshua was called to lead the Israelites across the Jordan and into the Promised Land he was commanded several times to be strong and courageous. Not to be deterred by possible danger or pain but to be obedient to God’s call on his life. To take the people of Israel into freedom and a land of their own.
God said to Him “Every place you put your feet..I will give you.”
Promises in scripture are always linked to a principle. Here the promise required him to take steps.
For Joshua to lead the people he needed to cross the Jordan and take territory from the enemy.
God gave him two tools so he could DO IT.
Faith 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Truth “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Armed with Faith and Truth Joshua was able to take the people of Israel into the promised land and to achieve amazing feats, defeating enemies far larger and stronger than his forces.
I believe as we arm ourselves with faith and truth that we too can
Let’s trade a bit of possible pain and uncomfort for the full life God has called us to. Step out. Lean In. Engage. Fight. Love. Live. #GETYOURBOLDON
